When Wiesia + Jimmy chose their wedding destination they looked to the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. It was where they first met, and the perfect place to bring together their families from Poland and the UK to celebrate in one unforgettable spot. And it really was unforgettable, for many reasons.
A true wedding photographers paradise! Olive groves surrounded the villa, high on a hilltop outside Kassiopi, where Wiesia + Jimmy shared their vows against a stunning seascape. Kisses were shared, champagne was poured and smiles were more than aplenty. Then it was down to the harbour for a bright and breezy boat ride to Taverna Agni, to feast on Greek food and drink enough wine to make Dionysus proud. They wanted a relaxed and happy day under blue Greek skies, and that’s exactly what they got. Until the return boat journey to Kassiopi, that is….
The trip began uneventfully enough as the wedding guests settled in for the starry 30 min trip, full of laughter and song. It was during the softly drunken strains of ‘Hey Jude’ halfway through the journey that the monotonous chug of the boat stopped abruptly with a gut-wrenching shudder. She lurched to one side, listed to the other, and settled somewhere precariously close to the waves as 60 people screamed and sharply sobered up. What had happened? Were we sinking? OHMYGODWE’REALLGONNADIE!!!! There were some heated words, and the flash of a torch, before we realised we were stuck on the rocks, and going nowhere. But at least we weren’t going down. With lifejackets on the kids, fruitless attempts were made to move the boat, and we knew it was time to call in the cavalry. That, or a midnight swim to Albania. Thankfully Jimmy had the cavalry on speedial and they arrived in the form of a bearded Alex from Agni Boats whose reassuring presence and watertight boat were very welcome. Two boat journeys later and we were all on dry land at Kassiopi harbour for celebratory backslaps and hugs before heading off into the night. Like I said, truly unforgettable…
